Kogi State governor Idris Wada has solicited the support of the World Bank in checking the erosion menace ravaging the state as well as execution of the watershed project.
Wada made the appeal yesterday in Lokoja, during a meeting with the World Bank Country Director, Mare Franco Munelly and her management team.
The governor said Kogi should be included in the list of states to benefit from the erosion and watershed project under the World Bank scheme, assuring that his administration would remain committed to the regular payment of its counterpart funds to attract more programmes.
According to him, Kogi State is blessed with arable land and other natural resources that could attract investments and World Bank assisted projects. He further stated that 250 hectares of land has been cleared in each of the 21 local government areas of the state to boost agricultural activities. Responding, the Country Director, Mare Franco Munelly, assured that the bank will assist Kogi in its developmental drive in the core sectors of the economy.
