JIGAWA TO IMMUNISE 1.2M CHILDREN

The Jigawa State government plans to immunize 1.2 million children against measles. Director General of Gunduma health system Usman Tahir disclosed this Sunday while flagging off a five day campaign against measles in the state.


He said the children will also concurrently be given oral polio vaccine during the exercise, adding that about 9,000 health professionals have been recruited to participate in the exercise.
Tahir said this year, a total of 2,392 measles cases have been recorded in the state. He called on traditional and religious leaders to complement the efforts of the government by mobilising their people for the exercise.
