Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has announced the appointment of Professor Bandele Adelanwa Itiola as the new Rector of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, (MAPOLY), Ojere, Abeokuta, southern Nigeria.
The immediate past Rector, Arch. Tokunbo Fowode, who is deep into his second term, has proceeded on disengagement leave.
The institution, which is the alma mater of the Governor, has been without a governing council for close to three years.
The reshuffle came on the heel of government announcement of the freezing of the accounts of the institution in various banks.
A four paragraph statement which was signed by the Accountant-General of the state, Mr A.S.Senfuye, conveyed the decision of the State goverment to freeze the institution’s bank accounts.
In a memo sent to the banks which was dated 17 September,2013,it was clearly stated all the affected accounts.
It further stated that payments could be mde to the accounts but no withdrawal be allowed unless the person gets clearance from the office of the Accountant-General.
Fowode, an Architect hails from the Ijebu axis of the state while his successor is from Abeokuta North, the same zone the governor comes from.
The former Rector in a telephone interview with newsmen,expressed his sincere appreciation to the state government for the opportunity given to him to serve the state in that capacity.
He said his tenure “exponentially improved human capacity and physical infrastructure in the annals of the institution.”
