NEW SPEAKER EMERGES IN KADUNA

Following the absence of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House this morning at the sitting without prior notice, members of the house nominated Shehu Usman Tahir representing Giwa constituency and Peter Adamu representing Kagarko constituency as Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
It would be recalled that leadership crisis had rocked the house and attempts have been made to impeach the principal leadership of the house.
In the absence of the Speaker and his Deputy, members of the House in accordance with the constitution nominated Philemon Gidan-Mana Usman representing Makera Constituency as Speaker Pro-tempo.
A member representing Zonkwa, Barrister Irimiya Kantiok moved during the seating that both the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker be removed immediately and that new speaker and deputy be elected.
This motion was seconded by a member representing Zaria Kewaye, Yakubu Yusuf.

Honourable Shehu Usman Tahir and Peter Adamu representing Kagarko constituency were sworn in as Speaker and deputy speaker respectively.
While the speaker Pro-tempo swore-in the new speaker, the new speaker swore-in his deputy.
Our reporter however observed jubilation on the faces of both members and staff of the Assembly.
