COURT JAILS 2 FOR THEFT IN BENUE

Two people were yesterday sentenced to three months imprisonment by a Makurdi Magistrate’s Court for stealing a lady’s handbag.
In her judgment, Magistrate Masewanger Odinya found the accused, John Jato and Donatus Tersugh, guilty of two count charge of conspiracy and theft.
Consequently, the convicts who both live behind NUJ House, Ankpa Quarters, Makurdi, were committed to three months imprisonment.
Earlier, the court heard that one Stella Agune reported the matter on Thursday, August 29, at ‘C’ Division Police Station at North Bank area of Makurdi. 

According to the report, the complainant stated that the convicts conspired and snatched her pink coloured handbag containing various valuable items.
The complainant told the police that the bag which was valued at N5, 000, contained original copies of her NCE statement of result, SSCE statement of result, photocopy of Diploma in Computer Application certificate, two-in-one MTN Sim car,  Nokia handset valued N8,500 and N180.
The court further heard that the convicts were arrested during police investigation and that they confessed to the crime.
